Metcalfe Calls Out PA Legislature On Spending Increases - Closed Door Budget Process

Daryl Metcalfe, R-Cranberry. “Families aren't able to do that, individual taxpayers aren't able to spend what they don't have. When government spends what they don't have, it sends the bill to the taxpayer.”

Conservative House Republicans on Monday complained that the public is being shut out of closed-door budget negotiations with a deadline looming for on-time passage by midnight Thursday.
A handful of House and Senate Republicans and Democrats have been meeting secretly to conduct budget talks with Wolf. That's not unusual and is the norm for budget negotiations.
“We need to alert people they are meeting behind closed doors and they may be trying to take more money out of your pocket,” said Rep. Daryl Metcalfe, R-Cranberry.

“The decision by our leadership to work with Wolf and the Democrats certainly violates the trust put in them by most members of our caucus,” said Rep. Daryl Metcalfe, R-Cranberry. “This is not the path Republicans expected them to take” when electing historic GOP majorities in 2014, Metcalfe said.
